BLAK just happened, let's talk about it

BLAK is Evolution Asia’s hard techno IP, born in Malaysia and built around a simple idea: push the harder side of electronic music further.

After launching in 2025, the festival returned for its second edition on 3 October 2026 with a bigger vision.

This time, under a new name: BLAK Arena.

For this year’s instalment, expectations were already high. Then came the surprises.

Two major additions, Exproz and Fraw pushed the lineup into even heavier territory, alongside 999999999, Fatima Hajji, AZYR, Nikolina, KLOFAMA, Joshua Dillon and SUHSI.”

Evolution Asia had also promised its “biggest, darkest lineup yet”, and the final bill delivered exactly that.

But the biggest change wasn’t only on the poster.

Welcome To BLAK Arena

The move to XOX Arena at The Arch Galeries immediately gave BLAK a bigger playground to work with, but it wasn’t simply about having more space. The upgraded BLAK Arena was built to feel like a full show rather than just another festival setup, with production playing a much bigger role in the experience.

One of the standout details was the huge circular lighting structure suspended above the dancefloor, giving the entire room a futuristic, almost otherworldly feel as it shifted with the music.

4,000 Ravers, And We Were Only Getting Started

The doors opened at 3:30PM, but it didn’t take long for the room to fill.
By 5:30PM, when Nikolina stepped behind the decks, the venue was already packed with around 4,000 ravers.

The early crowd was a sign of what was to come: BLAK wasn’t waiting until prime time to build momentum. The energy was there from the start and only intensified as the night progressed.

Every Artist Brought Their Own Flavour

Every artist brought something different to the room, but the one constant was intensity.

Nikolina set the pace early, while Exproz, Fraw, AZYR, KLOFAMA, Joshua Dillon and SUHSI kept the energy moving through the afternoon and evening. By the time the headline sets arrived, the crowd had already been pushed into full BLAK mode.

Then came Fatima Hajji, returning to Malaysia and delivering the kind of set her reputation has been built on. Her return added another layer to the night, connecting BLAK’s growing Malaysian audience with one of the leading names in the harder electronic music space.

And then there was 999999999.

The Italian duo are known for their hardware-driven live setup rather than a conventional laptop-based DJ performance, and their BLAK appearance brought that raw, physical approach straight into XOX Arena.

The lasers cut through the room from every direction, turning the space into an almost fully immersive visual experience. With the crowd moving in sync with every drop, it felt less like watching a set and more like being right in the middle of it.

This Is What A BLAK Night Looks Like

By the end of the night, it was clear that BLAK Arena had grown into something bigger than its first edition.

The lineup was bigger, the venue was bigger and the production felt noticeably more ambitious.

What really stood out was how all of those elements came together to create an experience that felt distinctly BLAK. It was loud, energetic, visually striking and, most importantly, packed with people who clearly came ready to go all in.

Evolution Asia Isn't Playing It Safe

If there was one takeaway from BLAK Arena, it’s that Evolution Asia isn’t interested in simply repeating the same formula and calling it a day

The company has continued building its reputation around international lineups, large-scale production and experiences designed around the audience, while expanding its electronic music footprint across Asia and Australia.

The brand didn’t just return for another year, it came back with a new identity, a bigger ambition and a very clear message:

BLAK didn’t just come back. It raised the bar.
